Atlanta, GA (January 4, 2023) – A child was killed in a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident that took place in Atlanta on the evening of Tuesday, January 3.
According to Atlanta Police, the accident happened around 6:30 p.m. at 365 Cleveland Avenue in the area of the Rosel Fann Recreation Center. A 9-year-old boy was allegedly crossing the street in the area when he was struck by a passenger vehicle. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene without stopping to check on the boy or call responders.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene. The boy was severely injured in the accident and rushed to the hospital in critical condition. While there, he tragically passed away due to his injuries. Nobody else was hurt in the accident.
The roadway was blocked in all lanes in the area of the accident for a period of time. This led to delays until the scene was fully cleared.
No further details have been released, but the investigation remains ongoing.
We offer our warmest condolences to the family and friends of the victim who lost his life in this accident.
