Atlanta, GA (May 1, 2022) – Officers with the Atlanta Police Department say the driver of a pedal pub faces a DUI charge after a Midtown Atlanta crash that left 15 injured on Saturday, April 30.
The incident took place near the intersection of 14th Street and West Peachtree Street, per APD reports. Police did not identify the driver but said they were charged with DUI and a business permit violation. The driver was attempting to make a turn but was traveling at a high rate of speed and tipped the pedal pub.
Fire officials, along with other first responders, were dispatched to aid victims. Two passengers were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition but were stabilized at the hospital. Ten others sustained minor injuries, and three more victims suffered serious injuries.
No other vehicles were involved, an Atlanta Fire spokesperson added. The intersection was shut down while fire officials cleared the road, and the investigation into the circumstances of the accident remains ongoing.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
