Athens, GA (November 21, 2022) – Around 3:56 p.m. on the afternoon of Thursday, November 17, a pedestrian accident took place at an intersection in Athens.
According to the University of Georgia Police Department, the accident happened at the intersection of Sanford Drive and Cedar Street. Police confirmed that a pedestrian was walking in the area when they started to cross the street and they were struck by a vehicle traveling in the area. It is believed that the driver remained at the scene of the accident.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The unidentified pedestrian sustained abrasions as a result of the accident. They were treated on scene by EMS crews but it is not known if they were taken to the hospital at a later time.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for some time. This led to delays until the scene was cleared.
