
Atlanta, GA (February 7, 2023) – One person was injured in a car accident that took place at an Athens intersection on the afternoon of Monday, February 6.
According to the University of Georgia Police Department, the accident happened around 12:57 p.m. at the intersection of East Campus Road and Cedar Street. Police confirmed that two vehicles were traveling in the area when they entered the intersection at the same time, which caused them to collide with one another. The involved vehicles were extensively damaged as a result of the collision.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders in Athens were called to the scene. The driver of one of the involved vehicles was injured in the accident. They were rushed to UGA Health Center for an evaluation of their injuries but they are expected to recover.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for an extended period of time. This led to delays until the scene was fully cleared.
