
Athens, GA (February 28, 2023) – Before 9 p.m. on the night of Monday, February 27, a car accident with injuries occurred at an intersection in Athens.
According to the University of Georgia Police Department, the accident happened at the intersection of Sanford Drive and Field Street. Police confirmed that two vehicles were traveling in the area when they entered the intersection at the same time, causing them to collide with one another. The involved vehicles were badly damaged in the collision and had to be towed from the scene.
Athens responders, including local EMS crews and fire crews, were immediately called to the scene to help those with injuries. One driver, who has not yet been formally identified, sustained injuries in the accident. The victim was treated at the scene by EMS crews.
A large portion of the intersection was blocked for some time, which led to delays. Police worked to clear the scene as quickly as possible.
