Alto, GA – Two Injured in Car Accident at GA-365 & Crane Mill Rd
Alto, GA (April 10, 2022) – Two people sustained injuries in a car accident that took place at an intersection in Alto on Sunday morning, April 10.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened at 9:45 a.m. at the intersection of GA-365 and Crane Mill Road. Police confirmed that 82-year-old Paul McElmurray was driving a Honda Accord and attempting to cross the highway at the time. While doing so, his vehicle was struck by a Ford Escape. The Honda overturned onto its side as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. McElmurray was trapped in his vehicle and it took fire crews about an hour to free him. The other driver, identified as 81-year-old Angie Galloway, was also taken to the hospital with McElmurray. Their conditions are not known at this time.
The roadway was temporarily blocked at the intersection as police cleared the scene. Police confirmed that McElmurray was charged with failing to yield.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
