South Carolina Fatal Pedestrian Accidents
Frequent pedestrian traffic on South Carolina’s packed streets and sidewalks results in a high frequency of pedestrian-related accidents and deaths. According to the latest available figures, there were 6,516 pedestrian deaths and 55,000 pedestrian injuries in the United States in 2020. The probability that you may get significant injuries if you are hit by a vehicle while walking is increased for obvious reasons.
The surviving family members of an accident victim who died due to negligence may file a wrongful death lawsuit. These claims are often filed by the deceased’s personal representative and are intended to offer financial help to bereaved family members. The law of South Carolina provides specific circumstances to protect the victim’s close family, including a spouse, children, or parents.
For the affected grieving families, wrongful death cases are painful, and insurance companies that refuse to pay settlements may make them much more so. When a loved one dies away, there are frequently many unanticipated costs. After suffering a devastating loss, some individuals may be able to begin the healing process by making financial adjustments using the money they were awarded in damages. A qualified South Carolina wrongful death attorney can help you go on with your life following the loss of a loved one.
