West Columbia, SC (November 28, 2022) – A two-vehicle collision in West Columbia on Saturday night, November 26, resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.
The deadly accident was reported near the Three Fountains Skating Rink at the 2724 block of Emanuel Church Road at around 8 p.m. It was reported that a vehicle was leaving the parking lot when it collided with a westbound motorcyclist on Old Barnwell Road.
The rider suffered fatal injuries in the collision. The identity of the deceased party has not been revealed at this time.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly crash is in progress.
We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
According to the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles, the state issued licenses to 215,957 motorcycle riders in 2019. That is an increase from 2018 of almost 23,000. The amount of people who ride motorbikes to enjoy the breathtaking nature of our state increases the significance of safe driving and riding habits.
If a collision victim dies as a result of negligence, the surviving family members may be able to bring a wrongful death claim. Usually, the personal representative of the victim’s estate files it. These claims are meant to provide financial support to bereaved family members. South Carolina law permits these scenarios to safeguard the victim’s immediate family, including a spouse, kids, or parents.
For the bereaved families concerned, wrongful death lawsuits are difficult, and the callous insurance companies who refuse to pay out settlements can make them even more difficult. There are typically a lot of unforeseen bills when a loved one passes away. Some people may be able to start the healing process after experiencing a devastating loss by using the money from the damages they were awarded to improve their financial situation. After losing a loved one, you can go on with your life with the aid of an experienced South Carolina wrongful death attorney.
At Monge & Associates, helping families who lost a loved one as a result of someone else’s negligence has always been our main priority. After a fatal accident, our attorneys help the surviving family members file a claim against the negligent parties in order to collect just compensation. You should not be required to foot the bill for the funeral charges and other costs related to the accident if a family member passed away as a result of someone else’s negligence.
