Waynesboro, GA – Injury Collision Involving Truck on River Rd 

Waynesboro, GA (June 23, 2022) – Serious injuries resulted from a rear-end collision involving a tractor-trailer in Waynesboro on Thursday afternoon, June 23. 

According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened around 2:08 p.m. on River Road. Police confirmed that a tractor-trailer was headed east on the roadway while a Volkswagen Jetta was traveling west. The tractor-trailer was following a vehicle too closely and had to come to a stop quickly. The driver veered to the left to try and avoid a collision but ended up slamming into the Jetta.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the Jetta, identified as an adult male, was severely injured in the accident. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment, though his condition is not yet known. 

The driver of the tractor-trailer and his passenger were not hurt and remained at the scene. It is not known if he will be charged for his role in the accident. 

No further details have been released. Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the accident at this time.
