Thomson, GA – Carl Foss Killed in Tractor-Trailer Accident on I-20

Thomson, GA (September 12, 2022) – One person lost their life in a fatal truck accident that took place on a highway in Thomson on Monday morning, September 12. 

According to McDuffie County officials, the accident happened around 9:40 a.m. in the westbound lanes of traffic in the westbound lanes of I-20 around the area of Cobbham Road. Witnesses claim that a pickup truck was traveling in the area when the driver collided with the back of a semi-truck due to reasons that are not entirely known. The pickup truck became embedded into the back of the pickup truck as a result. 

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One person involved in the accident was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. The victim has since been identified as 71-year-old Carl Foss of Watkinsville. 

Several lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene. 

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
