Pedestrian Crashes in South Carolina

Summerville, SC - Woman Struck by Two Vehicles at US-78 & Bryan St

A pedestrian has very little protection in the event of a collision. As a result, pedestrians are more likely to sustain potentially fatal injuries. There were 5,376 pedestrian deaths in the United States in 2015. According to national statistics, a pedestrian was killed every 1.6 hours on average that year, with a pedestrian injury every 7.5 minutes. Pedestrian fatalities are on the rise in the United States, with a nearly 10% increase in 2015.

When a pedestrian collides with a car, they are at a severe disadvantage and are more likely to suffer life-threatening injuries. As a result, pedestrian fatalities have increased significantly across the country. Pedestrians are vulnerable to the full force of an accident, unlike passengers in passenger cars. The injuries that occur as a result of this can be fatal. Pedestrians must be given the right of way and drivers must share the road with them. If they fail to do so, they may be held liable under state law. A Summerville pedestrian injury lawyer can help you get financial compensation for your injuries after you’ve been hit by a careless driver.
