Summerville, SC (December 17, 2021) – There were injuries after a passenger car and an ambulance collided in Summerville on Thursday night, December 16. The accident was reported around 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of College Park and Edgebrook Roads.
Local reports revealed that a Berkeley County EMS unit was turning onto College Park Road when it was hit by a 2006 Ford pickup truck. The driver of the pickup, 37-year-old Pedro Jose Perez Lopez, suffered injuries in the crash. Lopez was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of sustained injuries.
It is unknown if the ambulance was carrying a patient at the time of the crash, and the conditions of the other involved parties have not been revealed. Lopez was taken into custody for driving under the influence.
