Deadly Pedestrian Accidents in South Carolina
In the event of a traffic accident, a pedestrian has very little protection, which means they are more likely to suffer life-threatening injuries. In 2015, there were 5,376 pedestrian fatalities in the United States. A pedestrian was killed every 1.6 hours on average that year, with a pedestrian injury every 7.5 minutes, according to statistics. In the United States, pedestrian fatalities are on the rise, with a nearly 10% increase in 2015.
When a pedestrian is involved in a crash with a motor vehicle, they are at a significant disadvantage and are more likely to sustain life-threatening injuries. This has resulted in a significant increase in pedestrian fatalities across the country. Pedestrians, unlike passengers in passenger cars, are vulnerable to the full force of an accident. The injuries that result can be life-altering. Drivers must yield the right of way to pedestrians and share the road with them. They may be held liable under state law if they fail to do so. After being hit by a negligent driver, a Socastee pedestrian injury lawyer can assist you in recovering financial compensation for your injuries.
