Furthermore, Avvo.com and Nolo.com only list attorneys that hold a valid license and are in good standing with their bar association.
Realistically, most people have to utilize a variety of sources to find the right attorney. If you think you have found your match, it’s time to assess said attorney’s general philosophy of law and their perspective of the client-attorney relationship. During your interview with a potential attorney, he or she must be able to convey a sense of trust, comfort and open channels of communication. A quality attorney recognizes the importance of maintaining effective communication throughout every step the relationship, making it a point to always provide clear instructions and finding ways to reduce the client’s stress. If you are unsure as to whether or not this person is reliable at the end of the interview, it is time to keep looking!
