Savannah, GA (January 10, 2023) – On Monday, January 9, a pedestrian was injured in a hit-and-run accident that took place on a roadway in Savannah.

According to Savannah Police Department officials, the accident happened around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Jones Street. Police confirmed that a pedestrian was walking across the street in the area in a crosswalk. Suddenly, she was struck by a pickup truck that fled the scene immediately following the crash.

Several local responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has since been identified as 19-year-old Katherine Boegel, was seriously injured in the accident. She was rushed to the hospital for treatment but is expected to be okay.

All northbound lanes of traffic were blocked in the area of the accident for some time. Police have since identified the license plate number on the vehicle and have last been seen looking for the suspect who struck the pedestrian.
