Just before 3:30 p.m., on December 23, authorities were notified that a crash occurred on Interstate 85.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and firefighters responded to the scene and worked to clear the roadway immediately after arriving. Crews worked extensively to reopen the lanes of travel and allow traffic through the area.

At least one person was injured and transported to a local hospital for care.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is in charge of the investigations into the accident.

We hope the injured victims are able to recover quickly.

Car Accidents in South Carolina

Each year, tens of thousands of crashes take place in the state of South Carolina. Many of these accidents result in severe injuries for those involved. Unfortunately, the highway systems that run through our state are more prone to accidents. Not only do accidents take place more frequently, but they are often more severe.

There are a number of reasons why you see so many accidents take place on the interstate highway system in South Carolina. One of the primary reasons is that the roads are simply not designed to handle the amount of traffic that they see on a daily basis. The result is that congestion often leads to accidents.

Another reason why you see so many accidents take place on the interstate highway system in South Carolina is because of the way that people drive. Aggressive and reckless driving is much more common on interstates than it is on other types of roads. This can lead to serious accidents, even when traffic conditions are good.

Finally, there is also the issue of weather. South Carolina generally has very warm weather, which means that ice and snow are not usually issues. However, heavy rains can cause flooding on the interstate highway system, which can lead to serious accidents.
