Fatal Pedestrian Crashes in South Carolina

Orangeburg, SC - Update: James Schuler Fatally Struck on SC-33

In the event of a traffic accident, a pedestrian has very little protection, which means they are more likely to suffer life-threatening injuries. In 2015, there were 5,376 pedestrian fatalities in the United States. A pedestrian was killed every 1.6 hours on average that year, with a pedestrian injury every 7.5 minutes, according to statistics. In the United States, pedestrian fatalities are on the rise, with a nearly 10% increase in 2015.

A pedestrian is at a significant disadvantage in a collision with a motor vehicle and is more likely to suffer life-threatening injuries. As a result, pedestrian fatalities have increased significantly across the country. Pedestrians, unlike car passengers, are subjected to the full force of a collision. Those who travel by foot have a much higher risk of serious injury. Drivers must give pedestrians the right of way and share the road with them, and if they fail to do so, they may be held liable under state law. After being struck by a careless driver, a pedestrian injury lawyer in Orangeburg can help you seek financial compensation for your injuries.
