A head-on collision can have terrible, disabling impacts on the individuals affected. The effects can be profound and last a lifetime, even if the experience only lasts a few seconds. You can find yourself completely unable to work while still having to deal with rising medical costs. These collisions, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, are a key contributing factor in fatal auto accidents. Head-on collisions accounted for nearly 56% of all fatal auto accidents nationwide in 2018.
If the deceased’s death affected you, you might be able to file a wrongful death claim on their behalf; however, you should be ready for a few potential obstacles that might appear during the claim process. The worst scenario is having to deal with a loved one’s passing while also demonstrating that their death was a direct result of another person’s negligence or misconduct.
South Carolina law permits eligible surviving relatives to file a civil lawsuit for wrongful death against the defendant in order to recover damages. Money cannot stop the passage of time, bring a loved one back into your life, or ease your emotional suffering. However, receiving compensation for wrongful death may enable you to cover your related expenses.
