Macon, GA – Mine Workers Electrocuted in Fatal Workplace Accident on Huber Rd

Macon, GA (January 27, 2023) – Two workers lost their lives in a fatal workplace accident that took place at a Macon mine on Friday, January 27.

According to Warren County officials, the accident happened around 6:30 a.m. on Huber Road at the Kamin Mine, which is operated by Piedmont Mining. Police confirmed that two workers were in a large dump truck completing work when the back suddenly lifted up. This caused it to strike a power line, causing the truck to catch fire. When the two workers jumped out of the vehicle to put out the fire, they were both electrocuted.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other Macon responders were called to the scene. The two workers, who have been identified as 25-year-old Damian Asberry and 24-year-old Charquavian Bloodsaw, were both tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. Nobody else was hurt in the accident.

The area was blocked off after the accident. It is not known if work continued in the area for the rest of the day.

At this time, the Mining Safety and Health Administration, as well as local authorities, are still investigating the circumstances of the accident.

We offer our warmest condolences to the family and friends of the victims who have lost their lives in this accident.
