Macon, GA (January 30, 2023) – Around 8 p.m. on the night of Sunday, January 29, a man was critically injured in a train crash in Macon.
According to Bibb County officials, the accident happened on the railroad tracks on Lake Terrace Court around the area of Vineville. Police confirmed that a man was driving his Nissan Rogue in the area when he started to travel over the railroad tracks. His vehicle was struck by an oncoming train that was allegedly unable to stop in time.
Several responders, including Macon paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the Nissan, identified as 29-year-old Marquethus Flowers, was trapped in his vehicle and had to be extricated by fire crews. He was rushed to a local hospital with critical injuries. Nobody else was hurt as a result of the accident.
The area was blocked for an extended period of time following the collision.
