Macon, GA – Genevia Miles Killed in Fatal House Fire on Eli St

Macon, GA (September 27, 2022) – A woman was killed in a fatal house fire that took place in Macon early Tuesday morning, September 27.

According to Macon-Bibb officials, the accident happened at 800 Eli Street when a house caught on fire due to reasons that are not entirely known. The house quickly became engulfed in flames near the Alphabet City neighborhood. Multiple crews rushed inside the home so that they could look for any victims who were trapped inside the home and found a woman inside.

Paramedics, Macon-Bibb Fire Department responders, and various others were called to the scene to help those in need. The woman who was trapped inside the home, identified as 47-year-old Genevia Miles, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene around 4:15 a.m.

Due to the severity of the fire, it took fire crews some time to bring it completely under control. The area was blocked off for an extended period of time.

No further details have been released but the investigation into the fire continues.

We offer our warmest sympathies to the family and friends of the victim whose life was lost in this accident.
