Deadly Pileup Crashes in South Carolina

Kingstree, SC - One Killed, Three Hurt in Multi-Vehicle Crash on SC-527

The passing of a loved one brought on by a tragic event is a blow to the entire family. It’s possible that as a result of it, you’re finding it difficult to keep up with your expenses, look after your family, and, above all else, make sense of the anguish you’ve been through. Worse yet, the person responsible for the premature death of your loved one may refuse to pay for it, leaving you responsible for the price and unable to find a resolution.

A claim for wrongful death can be brought against a party whose actions were either negligent, reckless, or deliberate, depending on the circumstances. The claim is filed on behalf of the beneficiaries of the dead person, who are often a surviving spouse or children. In addition, the estate of the deceased person has the option of pursuing a survival action, which is analogous to a claim for wrongful death but offers various advantages. Claims of this kind have to be submitted within three years of the date of the death in question.
