Georgetown, SC – Loretta McCutcheon Dies in Head-On Crash on SC-51

Georgetown, SC (September 26, 2022) – One person was killed and another was hurt following a two-vehicle crash outside of Georgetown on Friday, September 23. 

The fatal crash was reported that night at around 10 p.m. on SC-51 about 8 miles north of the city. A vehicle was traveling east on the highway when the driver crossed the center line and collided head-on with a Ram pickup truck. The impact caused the first vehicle to spin out into the ditch. 

The first driver sustained fatal injuries. They were later identified as 57-year-old Loretta McCutcheon of Williamsburg County. The driver of the pickup was also injured. 

An ongoing investigation into the cause of the collision is in progress.
