Georgetown, SC (December 2, 2022) – A Georgetown County School District bus was involved in a deadly car accident in the Georgetown area on Friday morning, December 2.
The crash was reported on US-521 when the bus was stopped for a railroad crossing. There were reportedly 23 students and four staff members from Sampit Elementary School on board the bus at the time of the incident. The bus was rear-ended by another driver
Five students were transported to 23 students and four staff members from Sampit Elementary School, and the remaining students were taken to Sampit Elementary School. The bus driver and the other motorist were both hospitalized.
The driver of the other car, a 58-year-old Moncks Corner man, suffered fatal injuries.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is in progress.
