Gainesville, GA – One Killed in Fatal Dump Truck Crash on Thompson Bridge Rd

Gainesville, GA (March 15, 2022) – At 5 p.m. on Tuesday evening, March 15, one person was killed in a fatal dump truck crash that took place in Gainesville. 

According to Gainesville Police, the accident happened at the intersection of Thompson Bridge Road and Oak Tree Drive. Police confirmed that a dump truck was traveling in the area when it suddenly collided with a passenger vehicle due to reasons that are not yet known. The vehicles involved in the accident sustained heavy damages as a result. 

Several responders, including local paramedics and fire crews, were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the passenger vehicle, who has not yet been identified, was trapped in their vehicle and had to be rescued by fire crews. They were tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the dump truck was not hurt in the accident. 

Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for a period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene so traffic could resume as normal. 

No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
