Evans, GA – Teacher Struck in Pedestrian Accident at Elementary School

Evans, GA (September 6, 2022) – Around 7:30 a.m. on the morning of Tuesday, September 6, a teacher was injured in a pedestrian accident in Evans.

According to Columbia County officials, the accident happened near the Blue Ridge Elementary School. A teacher was directing traffic in the area when the male pedestrian, who was wearing a reflective vest, was struck by a driver in a passenger vehicle. Police spoke with the driver, who remained at the scene and said that they were changing lanes and did not notice the teacher. 

Several local responders, including Evans paramedics and fire crews, were immediately called to the scene to help those in need. The teacher sustained a variety of injuries in the accident. They were rushed to the hospital but they are expected to be okay. 

The roadway was blocked in the area of the school for some time following the accident. Police worked to clear the scene as quickly as possible.
