Deadly Car Crashes in South Carolina
One of the most dangerous activities we engage in on a daily basis is driving a car. South Carolina had the country’s highest per capita rate of fatal collisions in 2018. With 1,037 fatalities, automobiles, trucks, and SUVs accounted for roughly 65% of all traffic fatalities in the state that year. According to data, other motorists are responsible for roughly 82% of all fatal crashes in South Carolina.
If a loved one was killed in a car accident, you should file a wrongful death claim. A number of complicated rules govern these claims, including who can file a claim and when a wrongful death claim in South Carolina is appropriate. When the at-fault party was the direct cause of the victim’s death, a wrongful death lawsuit is an option. A representative of the deceased should file a claim and attempt to prove the defendant’s negligence with the help of an Edgefield car accident lawyer.
