Dublin, GA – Driver Injured in Tractor-Trailer Accident on I-16
Dublin, GA (June 1, 2022) – One person was injured in a tractor-trailer accident that took place on a major highway in Dublin on Wednesday, June 1.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened on I-16 around the area of mile marker 51 at 3:45 a.m. A tractor-trailer was traveling in the area and hauling parts. Another tractor-trailer suddenly cut off the first one, causing the first truck to lose control and overturn across all lanes of traffic. A third tractor-trailer then slammed into the overturned truck, as they did not see it in time. This caused both of the trucks to catch on fire.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One of the drivers of a truck had to be rushed to the hospital with unknown injuries. Another was treated at the scene but was not hospitalized.
The roadway was blocked in the area until approximately 9 a.m. Police quickly worked to clear the scene so traffic could return to normal.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
