Douglas, GA (January 9, 2023) – Around 9:20 a.m. on the morning of Sunday, January 8, a man was killed in a fatal truck accident in Douglas.

According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened on GA-32 around the area of the local Dollar General. Police confirmed that a driver was in a Ford Fusion and attempting to cross the highway when it was struck by a Volvo semi-truck traveling eastbound. The semi-truck struck the front of the Fusion and then continued onward into another lane, where it collided with a Ford F-350 that was pulling a trailer behind it. Debris was left scattered all over the highway in the area.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the Ford F-350, who has since been identified as 38-year-old Randolph Gibbs, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. It is not known if anyone else was hurt in the accident.

Due to the severity of the collision, the roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for some time.

No further details have been released but the investigation into the collision remains ongoing. Police will update with more information as it becomes available.
