Demorest, GA (January 18, 2023) – Injuries stemmed from a serious six-vehicle collision that took place on a highway in Demorest on the morning of Wednesday, January 18.

According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened around 6:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of GA-365 around the area of Mt. Airy Highway. Police confirmed that several vehicles were stopped in the left lane due to severe fog conditions when a Chevrolet pickup truck was unable to stop, slamming into a Chevy Cruze. The vehicles then became involved in a chain-reaction collision with four other vehicles, identified as a Jeep Wrangler, a second Chevy Cruze, a Mercury Cougar, and a Ford F-150. The vehicles were severely damaged in the accident.

Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Two people sustained injuries in the accident. Police confirmed that 32-year-old Jacob Scott was hospitalized with serious injuries while 30-year-old Tyler Woodall sustained minor injuries.

The roadway was backed up for a mile following the crash. Police urged those in the area to find alternate routes until the scene was cleared.

No further details have been released, but the investigation into the collision continues.
