Decatur, GA (January 24, 2023) – Injuries were reported in a car accident that took place on a highway in Decatur on the afternoon of Tuesday, January 24.
According to DeKalb County officials, the accident happened around 4 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-20 around the area of Panola Road. Police confirmed that two or more vehicles were traveling on the highway in the area when they collided with each other due to reasons that are not yet known. One of the vehicles overturned as a result, leading to severe damages.
Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Multiple parties were hurt in the accident. The injured parties were taken to local hospitals for treatment, though their conditions are not entirely known.
Several lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for some time. Police urged those in the area to use Covington Highway as an alternate route.
