Covington, GA – Update: Darrell Stowe Killed in Fatal Crash at GA-11 & Adams Circle

Covington, GA (July 23, 2022) – A man was killed in a fatal car accident in Covington on Thursday evening, July 21. Police have since identified the victim of the collision. 

According to Newton County officials, the accident happened in the evening hours at the intersection of GA-11 and Adams Circle. Police confirmed that Darrell Stowe was passing a truck at the intersection when his vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer that was traveling southbound. The two vehicles collided head-on, which led to extensive damages. 

Newton County responders, including EMS crews and fire crews, were called to the scene to help those in need. Stowe was severely injured and tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to the accident. 

The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for several hours. Police worked to clear the scene as quickly as possible so traffic could return to normal.

No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
