Cornelia, GA (January 6, 2023) – Around 10 a.m. on the morning of Friday, January 6, a car accident with injuries took place in Cornelia.
According to Habersham County officials, the accident happened on Pea Ridge Road around the area of Deer Track Road. Police confirmed that two people were in a Dodge Ram pickup truck that was traveling north on the roadway when the driver suddenly ran off the side of the road. This caused the truck to strike a sign and a tree head-on. This caused the pickup truck to catch on fire.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Two people in the pickup truck, identified as 34-year-old Christopher Frazier and 34-year-old Crystal Wendt, were both seriously injured in the accident. The victims were taken to both Grady Memorial Hospital and Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for some time. Police confirmed that there are now charges pending against the driver.
