South Carolina Deadly Car Accidents

Conway, SC - Driver Dies in Two-Car Crash at US-701 & Privette Rd

Driving is one of the most dangerous activities we engage in on an almost daily basis. South Carolina had the country’s highest per capita rate of fatal crashes in 2018. With 1,037 fatalities reported, automobiles, trucks, and SUVs accounted for nearly 65% of all deadly vehicle collisions in the state that year. If you have lost a loved one in a fatal car accident, a wrongful death claim may be able to compensate you financially. You must understand who can file a claim and when a wrongful death claim is appropriate in South Carolina. Under the wrongful death statute, a wrongful death lawsuit is appropriate when an at-fault party was the direct cause of the victim’s death. The claim should be filed with a representative of the deceased party to establish the defendant’s negligence.
