Pedestrian Accidents in South Carolina
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report that in 2012, there were over 5,000 pedestrian fatalities and 76,000 injuries nationwide. Additionally, South Carolina presents serious threats to pedestrians. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has South Carolina in its top three list of the most hazardous states for pedestrians in the country.
Walking on the road puts you at a serious disadvantage. Pedestrians are more likely to suffer severe, possibly fatal injuries in a collision with a moving car. As a result, there are now significantly more pedestrian fatalities nationwide. People on foot are exposed to the full force of an accident, unlike passengers in passenger automobiles, and the injuries that follow can have a profound impact on their lives. Drivers must share the road with pedestrians and give them the right of way; otherwise, they may be held accountable under state law. If you were wounded by a negligent driver, a lawyer can help you pursue financial compensation for your losses.
Few people anticipate being seriously hurt in a pedestrian collision, yet thousands do so every year across the state and need legal representation in order to pursue compensation. Getting legal counsel is important since many affected parties are unsure of how to pursue reimbursement for their damages following an accident. The legal team at Monge & Associates is committed to making sure you get the justice you deserve because we think automobile accident victims have a right to a full recovery.
