Clayton, GA (January 16, 2023) – A man was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident that took place in Clayton this past week.

According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened at an unknown time on Slaton Avenue around the area of Savannah Street. Police confirmed that a pedestrian was on the road in the area when he was suddenly struck by a driver in a Chevy Tahoe. The driver of the vehicle allegedly remained at the scene.

Several responders, including Clayton fire crews and paramedics, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has since been identified as 49-year-old Willie Berryman, was severely injured and rushed to AnMed Health Medical Center with severe injuries. He was tragically pronounced deceased while there.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian was identified as 36-year-oild Patrick Hickman. He has since been charged with driving on a suspended license.

The roadway was blocked in several lanes of traffic for some time.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
