Drunk Driving Crashes in South Carolina
Drunk driving is a national problem, but nowhere is it more visible than in South Carolina. Between 2003 and 2012, 3,870 people in the state were killed in DUI-related collisions. In the United States, drunk drivers kill more than 30 people every day, with an intoxicated driver killing someone every 50 minutes on average. Drunk driving accidents claim the lives of over 10,000 people each year, accounting for roughly a quarter of all road deaths in 2016.
Even the most cautious drivers face the possibility of being involved in a serious collision. It is critical for those injured in a car accident to pursue the compensation they deserve after being wrongfully injured by a reckless driver. For the vast majority of South Carolinians, driving is their primary mode of transportation. The risk of colliding with another vehicle is unavoidable when driving a car. Regardless, most drivers are unsure what to do in the event of a collision, and many accident victims are overwhelmed when trying to pursue a personal injury claim without the help of a Charleston personal injury attorney.
