Charleston, SC – One Killed, Two Injured in House Fire on Athens Ct
Charleston, SC (January 16, 2022) – One person died and two others were injured in Charleston following a house fire on Saturday afternoon, January 15. The deadly blaze took place at a residence located at the 40 block of Athens Court at around 3:09 p.m.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene and quickly put out the fire. Responding officials located one victim who sustained fatal injuries as a result of the blaze. Two other injured parties were evacuated before responding officials arrived.
Both individuals were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Local officials revealed that the fire likely started in a room and was caused by a portable space heater.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly fire is underway.
