Car Accidents in South Carolina
Each year, millions of motor vehicle accidents take place on roads across the country. While many of these accidents are entirely unavoidable by drivers, such as those caused by bad weather or faulty vehicles, there are many accidents that take place as a result of human error.
Regrettably, there are several reasons why motor vehicle crashes continue to take place so frequently in South Carolina. One of the most common reasons is distracted driving. With the increased use of smartphones and other electronic devices, it’s becoming increasingly easy for drivers to take their eyes off the road and focus on something else. Even if they’re not using their phone, they may be messing with the radio, eating, or talking to other people and their vehicles.
Another common cause of accidents is speeding. Many drivers believe that they can get to their destination faster if they exceed the speed limit, but this often leads to disaster. Speed increases the chances of losing control of your vehicle, and it also makes it more difficult to stop in time if an obstacle appears on the road.
Other causes of accidents include drunk driving, aggressive driving, and fatigue. In many cases, multiple factors contribute to an accident; for example, a driver who is speeding and distracted is much more likely to cause a collision than a driver who is only doing one of those things.
