Deadly Car Accidents in South Carolina

Bishopville, SC - One Killed, Several Hurt After Man Crashes into Wendy’s on Sumter Hwy

According to the most recent data from the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, a traffic accident occurs somewhere in the state every 3.7 minutes on average. South Carolina records one fatal auto accident every 9.5 hours, and one fatal incident involving a drunk driver every 28 hours. These figures demonstrate just how risky it can be for South Carolinians to drive.

When a crash victim dies as a result of negligence, the deceased’s relatives may be able to bring a wrongful death claim. Usually, it is filed by the personal representative of the victim’s estate. The goal of these claims is to provide compensation for grieving family members who have lost a loved one. South Carolina law established these instances to safeguard the victim’s immediate relatives, such as a spouse, kids, or parents.

In accordance with South Carolina law, eligible surviving family members may file a wrongful death lawsuit against the party in question to recover damages in a civil court. Money cannot reverse time, bring your loved one back to you, or ease the emotional suffering you are going through. However, obtaining compensation after a wrongful death may aid in covering your related expenses.

Our top concern at Monge & Associates has always been supporting families who lost a loved one as a result of another party’s carelessness.
