Augusta, GA – Two Killed in Fatal Car Crash at Mike Padgett Hwy & Hephzibah McBean Rd 

Augusta, GA (January 30, 2023) – Two people were killed in a fatal car accident that took place at an intersection in Augusta on the night of Saturday, January 28. 

According to Richmond County deputies, the accident happened before midnight at the intersection of Mike Padgett Highway and Hephzibah McBean Road. Police confirmed that a driver was traveling east on the roadway when the driver crossed into the intersection and collided with a building. The vehicle was extensively damaged in the accident.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Two people were tragically pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident. The parties were identified as 62-year-old Robert Salter and 18-year-old Joshua Campagnari. The parties were both pronounced dead around 2 a.m. 

A large portion of the roadway was blocked in the area for some time following the collision. Police worked to clear the scene as quickly as possible. 

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues. Police will update with new information as it becomes available.
