Augusta, GA – Three Injured in Pedestrian Crash at Gordon Hwy & Madrid Dr
Augusta, GA (May 14, 2022) – Around 2:10 a.m. on Sunday morning, three people sustained injuries as a result of a pedestrian crash in Augusta.
According to Augusta Police, the accident happened at 2300 Gordon Highway at the intersection with Madrid Drive near the area of Fort Gordon. Three people were walking in the area and walking to two other people to their vehicles. However, an eastbound vehicle driving through the area did not stop for them, striking three of the pedestrians. The driver of the vehicle then fled the scene without stopping.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The three victims who were struck by the vehicle were rushed to local hospitals for treatment. One pedestrian sustained the worst injuries and is nearly paralyzed. The victims have since been identified as a 50-year-old man, a 52-year-old man, and a 49-year-old woman.
Police closed down a large portion of the road at the intersection for some time. They did not say if they found the driver responsible for the accident at this time.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the collision continues.
