Augusta, GA – Intentional Pedestrian Accident with Injuries on Panhandle Circle

Augusta, GA (September 9, 2022) – On Monday, September 5, a pedestrian accident that took place in Augusta led to injuries and charges.

Richmond County officials confirmed that the accident happened at 2900 Panhandle Circle. When police arrived at the scene, they found that a woman was involved in an aggravated assault accident involving a passenger vehicle. A man was allegedly trying to leave his apartment when 34-year-old Rita Miller struck him intentionally with her vehicle. She also struck a neighbor when she was attempting to do so. After she ran into the neighbor, she crashed her vehicle into a Chevrolet 1500 in the parking lot.

Paramedics and several other responders, including Augusta fire crews, were called to the scene to help those in need. Both of the involved pedestrians sustained injuries in the incident. It is believed that they were treated at the scene and then taken to local hospitals for further treatment, though their conditions are not yet known.

Rita Miller was charged with four counts of aggravated assault and one count of possessions of a firearm or knife.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident remains ongoing.

We offer our sympathies to the pedestrians involved in this accident. We hope that they receive a full recovery from their injuries.
