Atlanta, GA (December 21, 2022) – An officer was injured in a car accident that took place on a highway in Atlanta on the morning of Wednesday, December 21.

According to Cobb County Police, the accident happened around 2:30 p.m. at 4545 River Parkway at the Vining’s RiverVue Apartments. Police arrived in the area when they received multiple calls about break-ins to vehicles in the area. They spotted a suspect and attempted to stop the car that the suspect was driving at the complex gate. Instead of stopping, the suspect slammed into two police cars.

An officer was able to catch up to the suspect and stopped them with a pit maneuver. Two suspects got out of the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but police were able to catch up with them. However, two more suspects are still on the run.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and said that one of the officers involved in a vehicle that crashed was limping on scene. He received a knee injury and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. The officer is expected to make a full recovery.

The roadway was blocked in the area for a period of time until police cleared the scene.

No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues. Police will update with more information as it becomes available.
