Atlanta, GA – Man Seriously Injured in House Fire on Chappell Rd

Atlanta, GA (April 13, 2022) – Around 1 a.m. on Tuesday morning, April 12, a man was seriously injured in a house fire in Atlanta.

According to Atlanta Police, the fire broke out in the early morning hours in a home at 500 Chappell Road. When fire crews arrived at the scene, they found that flames were shooting out of the front of the house. Fire crews discovered that a man was living in the home and pulled him out to safety. Other firefighters worked to bring the fire under control. When they were exiting the home, three firefighters crashed through the floors and into a crawl space. They had to be rescued and also pulled to safety.

Paramedics and several other local responders were rushed to the scene to help those in need. The man who was located inside the home was given emergency aid at the scene. He was then rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Police told fire crews that he was still alive when he made it to the hospital but his current condition is not yet known. None of the fire crews who fell were hurt.

The area was blocked off for an extended period of time as fire crews brought the fire under control. They believe that it may have started at the front of the home.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the fire continues.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.
