Atlanta, GA – Injuries Occur in I-85 Car Accident at Buford Hwy

Atlanta, GA (March 22, 2022) – Injuries were reported in a car accident that took place on a busy Atlanta highway on Tuesday, March 22.

According to local officials, the accident happened around 5:00 p.m. on the Interstate 85 southbound near the Buford Highway and Druid Hills Road exits.

Several vehicles were reportedly traveling in the left lanes when they collided due to unknown reasons, though the incident appeared to be a chain-reaction wreck that occurred as traffic slowed in the area, causing all lanes to close. One vehicle was pushed into the concrete barrier as a result of the collision, per reports from officers on the scene.

Medics and fire crews rendered treatment to at least one victim who sustained injuries as a result of the accident. The total number of injured victims, as well as their current conditions, is still unclear.

No further details have been released, but Atlanta Police Department officers say their investigation into the circumstances of the accident remains active and ongoing.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
