Pedestrian Accidents in Georgia
Despite lower rates of traffic over the past 2 years, pedestrian accidents continue to increase on our roads. In 2019, it was reported that 239 pedestrians were killed in Georgia accidents. By 2020, this number jumped to approximately 273. Because pedestrians have no protection from harm against large vehicles that navigate our roads, they are likely to become seriously injured or even killed in the event of an accident. A pedestrian who has become severely injured in an accident will have to prove that a driver acted negligently, leading to the collision. If you have been hurt in one of these accidents, you should have the help of an attorney on your side.
Immediately following a pedestrian accident, you will need to seek medical attention for the injuries that you have sustained. Many pedestrians do not know that there are a variety of legal options available for them. When a driver gets behind the wheel of a car, they must do everything possible to watch out for vulnerable victims on our roads. There are several factors that must be proven to show that a driver acted in a negligent fashion:
- The driver owed the pedestrian a duty of care
- The driver breached the duty of care
- The breach in duty of care led to the pedestrian accident
- The accident led to verifiable damages
A pedestrian accident can impact every aspect of your life. It is important that you seek the assistance of a skilled Atlanta personal injury lawyer.
