Athens, GA – One Injured in Car Crash at Oconee St & Hickory St

Athens, GA (March 15, 2022) – At 12:20 p.m. on Monday afternoon, March 14, one person was injured in a car crash that took place in Athens. 

According to the University of Georgia Police Department, the accident happened at the intersection of Oconee Street and Hickory Street. Two vehicles were traveling in the area when they allegedly entered the intersection at the same time, forcefully colliding with one another. The vehicles involved in the accident were extensively damaged and had to be towed from the scene. 

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One of the involved drivers, who has not yet been identified, sustained a possible arm injury. Their current condition is not yet known. 

The roadway was blocked at the intersection for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene. 

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
