Aragon, GA – Severe Injuries Reported in House Fire on Oak Grove Rd

Aragon, GA (March 29, 2022) – Severe injuries were reported in a house fire that took place on a roadway in Aragon on Tuesday morning, March 29.

According to Polk County officials, the fire broke out in a home at 13 Oak Grove Road around 1:29 a.m. Fire crews arrived approximately ten minutes after the initial call came in. Fire department crews were able to gain access to the home and immediately started to fight the fire from the inside. However, they quickly had to move outside due to the deteriorating conditions of the home. The fire, which is believed to have started in the attic, filled the home with flames and smoke.

Paramedics and numerous other responders were sent to the scene to help family members who were inside the home when the fire started. A total of four victims inside the home sustained injuries due to the fire. Three of the victims, identified as a 56-year-old female, a 60-year-old male, and an infant were flown by medical helicopters to a burn center for treatment of severe burn injuries. A two-year-old child was also rushed to a local hospital by ambulance for treatment of burns.

The area was blocked for an extended period of time as the scene was cleared.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances leading up to the fire continues.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
