Anderson, SC – Matthew James Bagwell Dies in Bicycle Accident on SC-81
Anderson, SC (December 5, 2021) – On Saturday, December 4, a man was killed after being hit by a motor vehicle in the Anderson area. The fatal crash occurred on SC-81 SB near Travis Road.
Local sources indicated that two vehicles were headed southbound on the vehicle as a cyclist attempted to cross the highway. The man was hit by an oncoming sedan before being hit again by the minivan. The injured victim was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
The man, 21-year-old Matthew James Bagwell, was pronounced dead at the medical facility. At this time, no charges have been filed.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly accident is underway.
